In 2024, as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of Cricoteka’s presence in Podgórze, we are presenting a series of sound installations designed specifically for this building. Throughout the summer, Cricoteka will transform into a giant resonance box, inviting visitors to step inside and experience firsthand how sounds shape the spaces around us. From July to September, we will introduce musical interventions in the stairwell, exhibition hall, archive, and elevator.

Together with our audience, we will explore the auditory potential of these spaces, inviting them to embark on a sonic journey through the living archive of the Cricot 2 Theatre. This project will also provide an opportunity to discover new, lesser-known musical phenomena in an open and inclusive setting.
For this project, we have invited acclaimed Polish composers of contemporary music: Zosia Hołubowska, Antonina Nowacka, Julek Ploski, and Aleksandra Słyż. Though they differ in style and artistic strategies, they share a unique sensitivity to space. Their works will interact with selected soundscapes of Cricoteka, considering its architecture, function, history, and symbolic layers. As a result, these installations will serve a dual purpose: on one hand, they will complement the space, acting as an accompaniment to the existing environment; on the other, they will act as creative interventions that reshape it.
Each installation will be available for two weeks, accompanied by a meeting with the composer and a live concert at its opening.

RESONANCES is part of the project (Re)vitalizing Spaces, a series of music and educational events held in Cricoteka’s unconventional and often technical spaces: elevators, corridors, stairwells, the courtyard, and its surroundings. This project is organized in celebration of the 10th anniversary of Cricoteka’s building in Podgórze, recognized as a contemporary icon of Kraków.
