TA’AM – dance performance | FestivALT

Thursday, 26/06/2025

Cricoteka and FestivALT invite you to the performance TA’AM choreographed by Jessica Bonamy-Pergament.

“Silence is better than speech but song is better than silence” – Hasidic mystical proverb

Beat the earth, with your foot and your voice; touch the sound, let its echo vibrate to allow it to flow; draw, hollow out, dilute, marinate, mix the signs by hand and by voice to extract the scent; make the body a living writing; sign on the skin.

In the piece TA’AM choreographer Jessica Bonamy initiates the encounter between Jewish and Arab musicalities. It is through their choreographic and musical dimension that TA’AM unfolds in a dance, oud and voice.

Arab and Judeo-Arab chants from North Africa, hand gestures saying more than words and telluric kicks collaborate to create an extraordinary weave of cultures.

A Q&A with the artist will be held after the performance.

Jessica Bonamy-Pergament (choreography, performance), Ahmed Amine Ben Feguira (oud), Amalia Alba Vergara (performance), Antonin Heck (scenography), Leslie Sozansky (lighting design)

An event within the 9th edition of FestivALT.

Cricoteka is a co-organizer of the performance.

The 9th edition of FestivALT is made possible thanks to the support of the Dutch Jewish Humanitarian Fund and takes place as part of the project “ReActMem: Rescue Memory – Activism, Art, and Public Memory,” which is co-financed by the European Union under the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV 2024–2026) program.
